Merriam: James H., formerly of Euphemia Twp., passed away at the L.H.S.C. Victoria Campus, on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the age of 87. Born in Hillsburg, Ontario son of the late Melvin and Christie (Trehune) Merriam. Jim was predeceased by his first wife Viola (Joyce) Merriam (1985), and 3 sisters and a brother. Beloved husband of Dorothy (Astles) White-Merriam. Loving father of Norma Shaw of Chatham, Irene Ramey of Strathroy, Ruth Driessens (Jim) of Oakdale, Darlene Ameel (Dan) of Ridgetown, Fred of Glencoe, Melvin (Marilyn), Bill (Rita), Joe, Dan (Cheryl), Stanley Merriam all of Newbury, and Jack Merriam of B.C.. Loving grandpa of 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his step-children and many nieces and nephews. Smith: James G., a resident of Thamesville, passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the age of 88. Born in Thamesville, son of the late James A., and Annie (Morrison) Smith. In Jim’s younger years he enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and especially love archery. He had worked at Blessed Sacrament Church, Chatham for many years. Many thanks to Dr. Kate Bailey for her many years of compassionate care, and thank-you to Bonny Francis of Francis Place in Thamesville for the great care Jim received in the last six months. Beloved husband of the late Agnes (Coburn) Smith (1980).Jim is survived by his daughter Julie Smith of Chatham, Michael Mark Smith (Anita) of Waterloo; grandchildren Kendra Seymour (Dave), Trevor Smith (Hollie), Paul Wyatt ; great-grandchildren Shaun and Samantha ; a sister Edie Nessline (George); brothers Bill Smith (Rita), Harry Smith (late Josie), Don Smith (Dorothy); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Formerly of Tupperville, Jim was the son of the late Charles (2009) and Alma (Clark) (2002) . Loving father of Becky, Kim (Randy) and Stephanie (Greg). Wolfe: Ilene Rose (Thorpe), 83, of Ayr, ON died peacefully at home September 7th, 2010. Born and resided in Chatham for 75 years, daughter of the late Levi and Edith (Taylor) Thorpe. Ilene and late husband Fred (2001) married 57 years enjoyed many years of camping, traveling and square dancing. She recorded many happy moments with camera in hand. Employee of Sears for twenty years and a long time member of the Community of Christ Church. Loving mother of Charlotte (Bob) Buchan of Kitchener, Brenda (Paul) Rice of Comber, Ric (Mary Louise) Wolfe of Chatham and Jo-ann Hebert (Steve Nevill) of Ayr with whom she resided. Predeceased by daughter Angela in 1945. Fondly remembered by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also sister Bea Pickering, Mrytle Dawson (Jake Hunter), sisters-in-laws Pam Thorpe and Velma Wolfe. Ilene is predeceased by brothers Bill, Joe, Lorne, Jack and Walter Thorpe and sisters Mildred Wood, Nancy Wood and Betty Marsh.
