Obituary of Abbie Louise Northcott

Northcott: Abbie (Stanton) a resident of Chatham and formerly of R.R.#4 Dresden, passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the age of 93. Born in Chatham, daughter of the Late Percy and Nancy (Parker) Stanton.  Mom was a city girl who grew up to be a country woman who stayed on the farm 15 years after dad died.  She was always creating, quilting quilts with both her mother and mother-in-law  for her girls or teaching crafts with the church girls program and the summer camps. She knitted over 200 vests that were shipped to Honduras and crotched many afghans which have been given to many family and friends. She also made many unique holiday creations out of plastic canvas which the family still use today. Mom became a very good cook where she made exceptional crust,  the  best apple pies and she  was famous  for her baked beans. Mom was very proud of the house she bought and lived in on her own until a month ago. She had a little bit of country out her backdoor, where she enjoyed the wildlife that surrounded her, especially her groundhogs.  Beloved wife of the Late Donald Northcott (2000). Loving mother of Louise Wood (Late Jim), Dawn Hopkins (Rick), Trish Mailloux (Tim). Cherished grandma of Jeff Kuenzig (Lisa), Scott Kuenzig, Shawn Wood (Rachael), Tonya Mailloux (Paul Smith), Jocelyn Mailloux and great-grandchildren Jordyn, Taylor, Owen, Alexis, Hayes,and  Miller. Sadly missed by the Northcott and Stanton families. Predeceased by her sister Elsie Blackall (Bill) and her brother Edgar Stanton (Marion).  There will be no visitation or funeral service. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Dresden Cemetery.  Donations to the Erie Beach Camp Grounds (c/o  Steve Lambe 7800 Paincourt Line, Pain Court On. N0P 1Z0) would be appreciated.
